Five Horror Movies & Thrillers We Can’t Wait to See in 2019

Glass is one of the most anticipated movies of 2019. Following Unbreakable (2000) and Split (2016), David Dunn (Bruce Willis) fights Kevin Wendell Crumb’s superhuman persona of The Beast (James McAvoy) in a series of escalating encounters. Elijah Price, alias Mr. Glass, (Samuel L. Jackson) emerges as a manipulator who holds secrets critical to both men. It will be released worldwide mid-January (January 18 for the US). Unbreakable is mainly seen as the best true superhero movie ever and Split was not bad either with an incredible James McAvoy. Glass will be the last movie in this unexpected trilogy. We will be in theaters the first day of the official release because we can’t wait to see Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson reunited, because this franchise is the only way to stop the always bigger Avengers comic universe blockbuster bullshit and because M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, The Village) was once one of the best directors ever. Glass will completely restore him after The Visit and Split!

2/ US

After the great Get Out (2017) Jordan Peele will release his next movie called Us on March 15, 2019 (US). He remains true to himself because Us is again described as a “social horror-thriller”. This former Comedian seams really to become the next big thriller director. We can’t wait to see another narrative that is going to be just as provocative and intelligent as Get Out.

This upcoming dark fantasy horror movie in black and white stars Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson. It’s from the director/writer Robert Eggers, known for his folklore horror film The Witch (2015). The latest was one of the best slow-building horrors of the last years remembering the stunning The Village (2004) from M. Night Shyamalan. The Lighthouse seems promising even if there is not much known for the story: It deals with an aging lighthouse keeper who lives in early 20th-century Maine. Eggers is a promising director in this horror/supernatural genre and we are looking forward to discovering his next movie! No trailer, no release date yet.

30 years after the first adaptation of Stephen King’s 1983 novel Pet Sematary with the same name directed by Mary Lambert (1989) comes now in 2019 a new version of it. Pet Sematary (2019) is scheduled to be released on April 5, 2019. It follows a doctor who moves with his family to the country. There he discovers that they have moved near a pet cemetery that rests on an ancient burial ground, and when his son is killed in an auto accident, he takes the boy’s body to the cemetery, where it is resurrected in demonic form. This classic King novel adapted for a new generation follows the success of King’s It: Chapter One (2017). Will Pet Sematary be as good as It? The conditions are at least united! We are excited about!

It: Chapter Two should be released on September 6, 2019. The first film was excellent – in acting, in creating frightening scenes and in resurrecting a nostalgic atmosphere. The sequel will have well-known actors like James McAvoy (will also be in Glass) and Jessica Chastain. And of course, Bill Skarsgard is returning as It. The plot is simple: 27 years after the horrific events of the summer of 1989 (seen in It) It returns. The Losers’ Club fulfill their promises and return to Derry to put an end to the beast once and for all. We can’t wait to see the second part of this classic Stephen King novel.

Until then keep watching!
